Still at the Mövenpick BDMS Wellness Resort Bangkok — this time for dinner at Khum Hom Thai Restaurant, by Chef Ian Kittichai. The atmosphere is relaxed and homey, like eating at home rather than a hotel, since every dish here is built around fragrance.
We tried the 4-course Thai Tasting Set Menu at a promotional price of 1,695 baht: pomelo salad with soft-shell crab, super crispy; tom yum goong, incredibly fragrant; Thepho curry with grilled pork; and turmeric-fried grouper, worth ordering as an extra. We finished with lod chong (pandan rice noodles) in lime-infused coconut milk with coconut ice cream — fragrant and delicious.

Other dishes we ordered on the side: pork bones baked in hang lay sauce, incredibly fragrant; sour squid soup with pineapple, springy squid; tiger prawn hor mok; grilled beef in kor-lae sauce; smoked northern-style duck larb; Khum Hom fried chicken, seasoned with spices so well it needs no dipping sauce; stir-fried seafood in shrimp paste; and a salted fish and crab meat lon dip.

Lunch is open Thursday–Saturday, 12:00–2:30 PM; dinner is open Wednesday–Sunday, 5:30–10:00 PM. Closed Monday–Tuesday. Tel: 02-666-3333.
