S&P is running a 50th-anniversary celebration festival with a lineup of once-hugely-popular dishes. The Chinese-sausage claypot rice is delicious, with sausage and various ingredients layered in — great and easy to eat. The green curry with crispy rice comes with a rich, well-made curry. The chili-paste fried rice with prawns is bold and full-flavored. The turmeric rice with som tam and shredded chicken-and-pork curry has always been excellent, and the clean eggplant salad with prawn roe is refreshing.
For dessert, we recommend the pink milk shaved-ice blend and the delicious longan drink. The 'Gato Wi Thiam' is a Filipino-style meringue-cake treat. There's also a khao chae (jasmine rice in iced water) set with a variety of side dishes — fried shrimp-paste balls, banana peppers stuffed with crab roe, and sweet shredded pork.
