Canon Thailand has launched the Canon EOS R8 Mark II, a compact full-frame mirrorless camera aimed at travel and lifestyle creators. It goes on sale October 20, 2026: 57,690 baht body-only, or 65,890 baht with the RF24-50mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM. Earlier, on October 9, Canon held a Created To Explore, Color Your World event in Bangkok where creators tried out the camera's colour features.

16 colour filters in the camera
The headline feature is 16 Color Filters that change the look in camera, for both stills and video, with adjustable strength. New Positive Film Tone and Negative Film Tone options give a film feel. Canon's examples include Tasty Warm for café food shots and Story Teal & Orange for a cinematic street look. The idea is to shoot and post without editing.
Key specs
It has a 24.2MP full-frame CMOS sensor, Dual Pixel CMOS AF II and 40 fps bursts with the electronic shutter. The big upgrade over the first R8 is in-body stabilisation, rated up to 7.5 stops with compatible RF lenses. Video is uncropped 4K 60p oversampled from 6K, with Canon Log 3 for anyone who grades later. The body weighs about 546 g, up from 461 g on the original, largely because of the added IBIS. Entry-level traits remain: a single SD slot and the LP-E17 battery, rated at about 340 shots (CIPA).
Prices and launch offer
Accessories on sale alongside it: the SPEEDLITE EL-5 (ver.2) flash at 16,790 baht, the EG-E2 Extension Grip at 3,490 baht and the HG-1000TBR Tripod Grip at 4,450 baht. From October 20 to December 31, 2026, kit buyers can add an RF50mm f/1.8 STM lens and an LP-E17 battery together for 1,888 baht (10,680 baht at full price), with 0% instalments for up to 24 months.
Our take
In our view IBIS is what really separates this model from the first R8. The colour filters are the hook for people who want to post straight from the camera. The LP-E17 doesn't last long, though, so anyone shooting video or travelling all day should carry a spare. That makes the launch deal, which includes a second battery, better value than it first looks.
