ASAI Bangkok Sathorn just celebrated its 1st anniversary — a hotel from the Dusit Thani group, small in size and small in price, perfect for anyone who doesn't need luxury but wants everything covered. The location is right by BTS St. Louis station, and it's an eco-friendly hotel that works hard to reduce waste of every kind.

Today we joined the celebration at Err Urban Rustic Thai, the hotel's 2nd-floor restaurant, by Chef Bo and Chef Dylan, which also focuses on reducing waste — turning leftover ingredients into new products, like craft cola, and sourcing ingredients directly from local villagers.

Today's menu had free-range chicken satay, turmeric fried squid, Chiang Rai sausage, Isaan sausage, morning glory stir-fried with shrimp paste, organic fried-egg salad, holy basil beef, Southern-style braised pork, free-range chicken green curry, mushroom tom kha, and coconut ice cream. Our favorite was the braised pork — genuinely addictive. The green curry was rich and intense too. Out front of the hotel there's also a stylish bar to keep the drinks going.
