Apple unveiled a new iMac with M6 on 26 October 2026. It keeps the 24-inch 4.5K Retina display and seven colours, but a lot has changed inside: more CPU and GPU cores, a focus on on-device AI, and Wi-Fi 7. Thai prices start at 52,900 baht, with sales 'soon'. This is a summary of Apple Thailand's press release; we haven't tried one yet.

Where M6 is faster

M6 in the iMac has up to a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU, two more of each than before, with a Neural Accelerator in every GPU core, a dual 16-core Neural Engine and 170GB/s of memory bandwidth. Apple claims that versus the M4 iMac, on-device AI (prompt processing in LM Studio) is up to 5x faster, graphics up to 2x, Excel 1.5x and SSD reads and writes up to 2x. Owners of Intel iMacs get up to 18x.

Better connectivity

It gets Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and an optional 2.5Gb Ethernet (12-core models only), up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports and support for two 6K displays. Worth knowing: the entry 10-core model doesn't get four Thunderbolt 4 ports and Touch ID is optional, while the 12-core model has Touch ID as standard and offers a Nano-texture display.

What's still good

The 4.5K display is 500 nits with P3 colour, the 12MP Center Stage camera supports Desk View, the six-speaker system does Dolby Atmos, there are three studio-quality mics, and the colour-matched keyboard and mouse or trackpad charge over USB-C. It runs macOS 27.

Seven colours: blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange and silver.

In our view (from official information, not hands-on), if you're buying new, the 12-core model at 7,000 baht more is the better buy: more cores, all four Thunderbolt ports, Touch ID and the Ethernet option. If you already own an M4 iMac and don't run AI on-device seriously, there's no need to upgrade yet.
