Our full Hong Kong trip in one post. For getting into the city, we took the Airport Express — booking through Klook ahead of time was cheaper, and you just scan a QR code to board. We stayed on Hong Kong Island around Sheung Wan (think Yaowarat meets Ari), at Y Hotel — a newer building with strong water pressure and cold air-con.
Places we hadn't reviewed before: PaShih, a grass jelly and shaved ice shop in Sheung Wan — refreshing and perfect for the heat. For cafe hopping there's Elixir, all white and minimal with great coffee and cold air-con; HalfWay Coffee, with its stylish Chinese-pattern cups and sourdough open-face sandwiches; and Bluebird Coffee just off the alley by our hotel, with a really good americano.
Iwanami Japanese Restaurant's omakase is genuinely good quality, around 8,000 baht for the course. Sensory ZERO is a cafe serving good beef rice and fried chicken wings. For Kee does a comforting pork chop rice bowl, but expect to queue. One Dim Sum is decent, nothing to complain about. Trusty Congee King was a friend's recommendation for congee. For egg tarts, we hit two famous shops — Hashtag B in Causeway Bay (sweeter) and Tai Cheung Bakery (the traditional style, less sweet and richer). On the way out, we used facial recognition to clear immigration — no passport needed.
