Continuing with ancient royal Thai cuisine made accessible, at Anya Authentic Thai Cuisine. The mixed appetizer set is genuinely satisfying — crispy noodles with fragrant, tangy bergamot, mahor (savory-sweet minced meat on fruit), shrimp wrapped in egg net, and crispy shredded pork, crunchy outside, soft inside, not oily at all. The coconut-milk soup with fried gouramy fish is well-balanced, neither too thick nor too thin.
The turmeric fried squid is excellent, a must-try. The stir-fried pork with shrimp paste has a light, refined royal-style flavor. The chicken curry with banana has firm, slightly underripe banana and tender, tasty chicken. There's homemade pumpkin ice cream, glutinous rice with mango, and passionfruit sorbet — all wonderfully rich.
