Doodle Izakaya is a preppy, youthful take on the izakaya, newly opened and stylish, with a cute, young crowd. The Shoyu Butter Onion Salad has a soy-butter dressing that pairs really well with the vegetables — highly recommended. The Yakitori Set is grilled well, with juicy chicken and offal charred just right, and the Mentaiko Cream Pasta is rich and intensely savory.

Tenderloin Steak with Shoyu Butter Sauce comes as 4 thick slices, though the meat was a little tough. The Smoked Ankimo Pate, a smoked monkfish liver mousse piped onto butter-fried shokupan toast, is highly recommended. Tori Karaage with Truffle Mayo is fragrant and delicious, and the Ika Somen, thin squid noodles in a somen-style sauce, is chewy and good.

The real highlight though is the green tea — just 30 baht with free refills, freshly brewed every glass. It's located on Sukhumvit Soi 47, just a short way into the soi, with roadside parking available in the alley.
