Taking you on a gentle trip back in time at the Chinese restaurant inside Montien Riverside Hotel Bangkok — The Emperor, which feels like it's stopped time for 20 years, both in its classic atmosphere and its traditional recipes. Right now they have an incredible dim sum buffet. The best of it is the red pork filling — red pork bao, and fragrant, juicy red pork rice noodle rolls. For shrimp fillings, there's shrimp shumai, rose-shaped dumplings, and har gow that's genuinely all shrimp, seasoned beautifully. The lava bao has a filling that pairs perfectly with the sweet, rich, salty dough.

The Hong Kong-style roast duck is impossibly good, with fragrant, easy-to-chew skin. The Hong Kong-style red pork and crispy pork are excellent too, and the oil-marinated jellyfish is fragrant and delicious. Other appetizers like fish maw, Yangzhou fried rice, and Hong Kong-style fried noodles are all great too. Right now there's a Dim Sum Buffet promotion at 820 baht net Monday–Friday (990 baht Saturday–Sunday), lunch 11:30 AM–2:30 PM and dinner 6:00–10:00 PM, on the 4th floor.
